Murray McDavid Tasting Notes

Posted: November 27, 2014 in Barbados, Rum

Murray McDavid ‘Renegage Rum’ Foursquare Distillery, Barbados 6 year old 46%

Bourbon/ Tempranillo (Manso Ribera del Duero) – Limited release of 3870 bottles

Tasted: Dec 2010

Soft and fruity on the nose. Quite bold with a heavy pot still character along with plenty of rich, dried fruits and an almost Guyana-esque rancio. Lovely intensity with hints of coffee and spicy red fruits.

The palate is lighter than the nose would suggest, with a greater degree of elegance and delicate dried fruit infused pot still rancio. Edgy with hints of lightly spiced red fruit sitting in the background. The spice is really ramped up on the middle and there is a fleeting vanilla oak note in the finish. Lovely!
