Few Spirits Tasting Notes

Posted: April 29, 2014 in American Gin, Gin

Barrel Gin 46.5%

Tasted: Nov/ Dec 2013

Almost plasticy aromas of melted butter and marzipan with hints of pepper and citrus. Lightly smoked sweet vanilla hides the botanicals. Swamped by the oak I think.

The palate is odd. Sweet but bitter oak with light menthol and loads of bitter spice. Soapy juniper and a developing sweet, perfumed note. Short and mentholated. Quite mouth-watering with a perfumed juniper and peppermint finish. Conclusion: Far too oak dominated. A bit of a car crash really!
